Background to the design
The Macando collection is about an explosion on the Deepwater Horizon oil rig that killed 11 people and created a fireball that could be seen from over 50 kilometers away. Two days later, the Horizon sank, spilling its well on the ocean floor and causing the largest oil spill in history. Even though the oil leaked, it took over 80 days for the leak to be fixed. The oil spill destroyed much of the marine life and impacts can still be seen in the Gulf of Mexico today. A resulting ban by Barack Obama on offshore drilling was reversed a few months later.
